So, we got left and heartbroken in "The devil wears lipstick". "40 cups of coffee" is following that idea. The "gloryful moment", when our heartbreaker comes back months or years later and we can tell him/her that the door is closed. Remember "Nobody´s home" from B.B. King?
I had the idea to put it all in a very traditional blues-song. You know, all that nice ideas with the roster and the whiskey and ... you know, what i mean. :-) At the end i had all that ugly and funny things that i could say in this song and so i did it. Ain´t it a nice idea to see that guy, that tells his ex-love, that he sold his phone "and the god damned mailbox, too" to never hear from her again?
So, this is a blues-song and it is a fun-song. I don´t think, that all of that old bluescats were spending their whole life with howling at the moon. So enjoy this song and all the fun in it.
A little ad:
I was recording the guitar-solo and because of, i had B.B. King in mind, i tried a little copying him. After the first notes, one string got broken and so i finished the solo with five strings. You can hear it in the solo, when the string gets broken and smashes on the guitar pickup, which creates a nice sound effect. It´s that typical accident, that makes people ask you things like: "How the hell did you get that sound?". Well, i wish i could tell you that i am such a genius but ... the truth is, that i lost a string and kept on playing. And it sounds nice :-)
Big hugs:
Fred
lyrics
Bring me another whiskey. You ́re looking better when i ́m drunk.
Bring me another whiskey. You ́re looking better when i ́m drunk.
It ́s amazing how you change when i drink that bottle down.
Give me another cigarette. Hope smoke makes you disappear.
Give me another cigarette. Hope smoke makes you disappear.
Oh yes, i ́m doing fine. Why the hell are you still here?
Bring me 40 cups of coffee. I wanna stay awake until you leave.
Bring me 40 cups of coffee. I wanna stay awake until you leave.
Lord i don ́t wanna fall asleep, standing close to such a thief.
The rooster called his nephew, said „I got a brand new wife.“
Yeah the rooster called his nephew, said „I got a brand new wife.“
If you ever try to lay her down, man i take your frigging life.
My grandpa called your grandma, called your grandma in the kitchen.
My grandpa called your grandma, called your grandma in the kitchen. Said: „That girl, that calls you grandma ... only thing she does is bitchen.“
Sold my phone five days ago. Sold my phone to not hear you.
Sold my phone five days ago. Sold my phone to not hear you.
Sold my phone five days ago and the god damned mailbox, too.
